A Prayer of Desire

We all have deep wants and longings. Bede the Venerable said, “Everyone loves happiness but few ask where it is.” The poet who wrote Psalm 119 teaches that our deepest desire as people is walk in the way of the Lord. The way of the Lord is the way of blessedness, happiness, and our deepest human flourishing. When we walk on the way of the Lord we walk with Jesus. The way of the Lord is also the way of the cross, which is why it can be so hard to walk in the way of Lord. But in the face of suffering, our surface desires fade away and our deepest desire is met in the way of the Lord.
